15th August @ We School

15th August, the day India got its  independence!!!!

We have always been invited to school/college/office for the flag hoisting followed by some programs. But we say it's Independence Day..so we also need the indepence and freedom to do what we want without any restrictions. Yes,it should be a true independence for us as well!!! So the usual routine for this day is that of a holiday....wake up late, enjoy a brunch, go out with friends, movies etc...independence from work, study :-P.

But this year it was different and I must say it was a good experience :-). I celebrated the day with my friends and faculty @ We School ( WeSchool  refers to Welingkar Institute of Management, Development and Research - the place i am currently pursuing my MBA).

The event started with flag hoisting ceremony by our dean Dr. Anil Rao sir. This was followed by some cultural events refering to Independence as its main essence.

Each of the cultural events were of different forms and genres but to look at it at the end conveyed the same message 'FREEDOM'
Be it the scintilating and enthralling music numbers like Maa Tujhe Salaam, Zombie and many others to name played by our newly formed band We-Band or the skit which made us think what exactly does the term 'FREEDOM' mean to us and that if we really understand and implement the same to our day to day activities in our life or even the the dance performance which helped us traverse through some of the different cultures and traditions of India.
And yes....how can I forget about the two musical plays both of which were of compeletely different genres but conveying the common message of independence and freedom. One of the plays also reminded us of our heroes and their sacrifices for the country, and by the virtue of these sacrifices, we are able to see and experience the world we live in today.

The entire event was mesmerizing and entertaining but at the same time thought-provoking. And I really feel over-whelmed to be a part of such an event.

Finally I would like to leave you all with this thought
"Love is the only freedom in the world because is so elevates the spirit that the laws of humanity and the phenomena of nature do not alter its course." - Kahlil Gibran

The Changing Phases of LIFE....

Life...What is it exactly? I would define life as
L-Learning
I- Interpret
F-Flourish
E-Experience

Life has many phases. As we move on and travel from one phase to another we keep learning new things.Every moment that we live, we learn something or other. Now it is upto us how we interpret this and use it to make our future life wothwhile to live in.

During the early stages of our life our parents/loved ones teach us some of the basic aspects like how to talk, how to eat, how to walk etc. We go to pre-school and we meet new people, we interact with them, we in a way learn how to work along with others. This is lays the foundation for our future.
Then we move onto schooling where we are taught to become independent in ourselves, study hard, what exactly is competition. We also involve ourselves in petty quarells over small things like a pencil, sharpner, rubber etc.( Now when we think about it we laugh at ourselves and feel how insensitive were we :-P)

Then comes the difficult phase of our life, we are pressurized the most from everyone around us. Study well or you will be nowhere in life. There is constantly this feeling of pressure from outside and this tension as to what will happen when the results are out, what if we dont score well etc. This is during our 10th and 12th board exams.

Then we move onto our graduation where in you become more independent, more sensible, you have a clear picture as to where you want to be in life.HEre we also enjoy some lighter moments like bunking lectures, going to movies with friends, partying, proxy attendence, night out with friends etc.

Throughout the 2/3 years we enjoy but the final year comes and this is our moment of truth. We thnnik about placements, our dream company, we sit for interviews, the tension on everyones face, happiness of getting through, sadness of being rejected.

Then we go onto our new world. A world where everything is new -  new faces, the air around is different, another set of new people but this time people of a different genre, new ways to talk, walk, eat, behave. We feel lost intially but then it comes to our realisation, YES, this is exactly what we wanted , something for which I spent last 21 yrs of our life. IT IS TIME TO BE INDEPENDENT IN LIFE.Time to work and we are excited about it.

We enjoy our work initially, but gradually say after 2-3 years another realisation comes to our mind, Am I really Happy with what I am doing? Am I in the job where I want to be? Am i doing the right work?

So what next? The answer that comes to our mind is post-graduation and to be precise MBA. And again we come back to school and enter this new phase of life. A phase wherein you learn additonal things which will definitely help you prosper in future.

There are other phases of life which I am yet to experience, so will update this blog as and when i have those experiences.

LIFE has many different FACES, and every PHASE helps us learn new things.
