15th August @ We School

15th August, the day India got its  independence!!!!

We have always been invited to school/college/office for the flag hoisting followed by some programs. But we say it's Independence Day..so we also need the indepence and freedom to do what we want without any restrictions. Yes,it should be a true independence for us as well!!! So the usual routine for this day is that of a holiday....wake up late, enjoy a brunch, go out with friends, movies etc...independence from work, study :-P.

But this year it was different and I must say it was a good experience :-). I celebrated the day with my friends and faculty @ We School ( WeSchool  refers to Welingkar Institute of Management, Development and Research - the place i am currently pursuing my MBA).

The event started with flag hoisting ceremony by our dean Dr. Anil Rao sir. This was followed by some cultural events refering to Independence as its main essence.

Each of the cultural events were of different forms and genres but to look at it at the end conveyed the same message 'FREEDOM'
Be it the scintilating and enthralling music numbers like Maa Tujhe Salaam, Zombie and many others to name played by our newly formed band We-Band or the skit which made us think what exactly does the term 'FREEDOM' mean to us and that if we really understand and implement the same to our day to day activities in our life or even the the dance performance which helped us traverse through some of the different cultures and traditions of India.
And yes....how can I forget about the two musical plays both of which were of compeletely different genres but conveying the common message of independence and freedom. One of the plays also reminded us of our heroes and their sacrifices for the country, and by the virtue of these sacrifices, we are able to see and experience the world we live in today.

The entire event was mesmerizing and entertaining but at the same time thought-provoking. And I really feel over-whelmed to be a part of such an event.

Finally I would like to leave you all with this thought
"Love is the only freedom in the world because is so elevates the spirit that the laws of humanity and the phenomena of nature do not alter its course." - Kahlil Gibran
